Praying Mantis

The name comes from the Greek word for prophet because they appear to be praying when their front legs are clasped together. They are carnivores and are equipped with spines along their front legs to seize prey. The mantis is a very unique insect because it can turn its head 180 degrees, has only one ear and some are large enough to capture hummingbirds.
