My Favorite Things (En)

My Favorite Things is a party game where you don’t know the value of your cards; instead, you get to know the other players.

In the game, you present a category to your neighbors and ask them to write down their five favorite things (and one least favorite thing) in that category on their cards. You then use these cards to play a round of trick-taking with all the other players, without any of you knowing the true value of each card played until the end of each trick. Your neighbor’s preference ranking determines the card’s strength. A 1 is the highest and a 0 is the lowest, but if a 1 and a 0 appear in the same trick, the 0 wins.

Because you’re playing with other people’s favorite things, every move offers unique insights into your fellow players and sparks interesting conversations. Does Paul like the Power Rangers more than Anthony likes banana milkshakes, or than Archie likes Italian disco? These are the deductions and judgments you’ll have to make in My Favorite Things.
